A whirlwind whisked

Strands of memory

Across my face, into my eyes,

Stinging them with tears.

I flicked my memories

Out of my mind

Out of my eyes

Again and again, but

The emotions were too strong.

Blind to the present

Lost in the past

Again and again,

The whirlwind was too strong.

Here is the original poem:

Strong wind blew

My hair across my face

Across my mouth

Into my eyes.

I flicked my hair

Out of my eyes

Again and again

The wind was so strong.

I was blind

I was sick

And worried

Because I didn’t

Want to fall

And hurt myself.
